Who’s ready for St. Patrick’s Day? If you’re not quite there yet, this St. Paddy’s Day corned beef hash and kraut burger recipe will have you seeing green yet! No, it’s not a green burger, but it does have the Irish flare you’re looking for in your brunch recipe.
St. Patrick’s Day is upon us and it’s time to break out the green clothing, find out what time the parades start and figure out what to serve for brunch! We like to plan ahead and make sure we’re going to have a fun St. Patrick’s Day. Must you be Irish to enjoy this holiday? Nope! Maybe it’s all the green colors everywhere, maybe it’s the parades, maybe it’s the food – what ever it is, it’s a fun holiday to celebrate! One thing is for sure, you can find us firing up a special brunch and then out on the parade route, just to finish off the day with a St. Patrick’s Day dessert.
St. Patrick’s Day Brunch Burgers
I know some people, or dare I say – most people order breakfast or some sort of breakfast hybrid for brunch. Not me! I order off the lunch side of the brunch menu, especially when there is a mean corned beef hash and sauerkraut burger waiting for me! I mean, what’s St. Patrick’s Day without a little corned beef hash, right?
I always use HORMEL® MARY KITCHEN® Corned Beef Hash, it’s flavorful, hearty and tastes just like it’s homemade. Plus, you can get it right at Walmart. We can all agree that when St. Patrick’s Day rolls around, it wouldn’t be the same without a big brunch and brunch wouldn’t be the same without a few different options. So let’s get to the recipe for our St. Patrick’s Day kraut burgers!
Corned Beef Hash and Sauerkraut Burgers
The ultimate St. Patrick’s Day brunch doesn’t just happen. We make it happen, and you can too! Here’s how…
We’re going to gather our ingredients; ground beef, a can of HORMEL® MARY KITCHEN® Corned Beef Hash, sauerkraut, Irish cheddar cheese, mustard, ketchup, pepper, burger buns. Find measurements and the complete printable recipe below.
First, combine beef, corned beef hash, sauerkraut, mustard, ketchup, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well with a large wooden (or stiff) spoon.
TIP: I find a pressing action with the spoon helps blend everything well.
Form patties from the mixture, you can either form regular ¼ burger patties or you can make sliders, your choice! Just make sure you get the proper size buns
Cook the burgers on the skillet to your liking. When the burgers are just about done, top with Irish cheddar cheese. At this point heat up the corned beef hash and sauerkraut on the other side of your skillet, or separate skillet or pan if you’re cooking on the stove top. Also toast your buns at this time, if desired. PS: Don’t fret if your burgers feel a little loose, they’re supposed to be a little messy! Oh, and that means don’t try to cook them on a grill or grill pan either.
Now that everything is cooked to your liking, place the burger patty on the bun and top the burger with corned beef hash and a pinch of sauerkraut for a little extra St. Patrick’s Day zing.
