Our secret elves gift exchange is a fun way to exchange gifts and get everyone ready for the holidays! Leading up to Christmas, usually a week after Thanksgiving is the perfect time for a gift exchange called “Secret Elves.” This is a budget friendly gift exchange, spending only a few dollars each day for 1 week – total spending limit for the entire week is $25.

Christmas Gifts at Dollar General

I think we can all remember opening our stockings on Christmas morning, there were two things we would always find; an orange and a pack or two of Extra® Spearmint Gum or Extra® Peppermint Gum, right? So, as a Secret Elf, I want to spread holiday cheer – and adding little touches like Extra® Peppermint Gum to my gifts is certainly a great way to do that!

When they open that pack of Extra® gum, they’ll remember back to being a kid again, and isn’t that what makes the holiday season so magical? Remembering all the wonderful holiday traditions and keeping those traditions going?

Alright, enough mushy-gushy stuff – lets see all the awesome gifts I got at Dollar General to give as my secret elf gifts this year. I always begin secret elves week with the decoration items first, because lets face it, who likes getting holiday decorations when the holidays are almost over? They just go into a box until next year! The earlier you give decorative items, the longer they can be displayed this year.

Secret Elves Holiday Gift Exchange

How To: Secret Elves Gift Exchange

How can you start a Secret Elves Gift Exchange? Setting up a secret elves gift exchange is rather simple.

  • Put all participants names into a hat
  • Draw names (no you can’t get yourself!). The name you draw will be the person you give gifts to.
  • Give gifts secretly each day for the designated week
  • Find out who’s been giving you gifts and share who you’ve been giving gifts to on the last day!

Fun, right!? You don’t have to share who’s been gifting who if you don’t want to – but make sure to set up the rules ahead of time. Sometimes people get extra silly with their gifts – some are very sentimental and serious. Which path will you choose in your gift giving, secret elf? I always like to stick with the holiday theme and give little things that may help people get into the holiday spirit!

We set our budget at $25 for the whole week, averaging $5 per day. You can certainly set your budget for more or less. Again, discuss this before hand so no one goes overboard! I don’t think anyone in our group actually spends the entire $25, it really is the thought that counts!

It is the little things, like Wrigley Extra® Gum that can really make holiday memories rush back.

Besides Extra® Gum, what does Santa always put in your stocking?
